About Oakhill Farms
Welcome to the web home of Oakhill Farms Beefmaster Cattle. We specialize in breeding and developing some of the best Red Polled Beef Cattle on the market today. Our Farm is located in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia, just south of Blairsville. The Farm has been in our family for over 100 years.
Beefmasters are typically a sturdy but gentle breed with a great disposition. Our concentration is on the Red Polled Beefmaster Cattle and are primarily grass fed with minimal supplemental grain. The herd is worked in and out of feed sheds to keep them interacting with people. No hormones are used, only natural feeds with mineral supplements.
"The Beefmaster breed originated in 1954 from a 3-way cross between Hereford, Shorthorn and Brahman cattle. Beefmaster cattle have proven to be highly efficient in terms of feed conversion, pasture maintainability and general cost of production. Because Beefmaster cattle have the potential to gain more efficiently on grass and feed, while maintaining highly marketable carcasses, they are less costly to grow and will yield higher returns. Niche markets favorable to Beefmaster influenced cattle include the replacement female market, grass based stocker operations, retained ownership or branded beef programs and even youth or recreational show cattle. Because of their unique genetics and characteristics, Beefmasters help cattlemen take advantage of changing markets while staying true to the basic ranching principles. Ranchers can depend on fertile cows that will consistently raise heavy weaning weight calves in a variety of conditions and climates." - Beefmasters.org
